Disclaimer:  If you crave coffee, it’s because you’re addicted to caffeine.  If you crave candy, it’s because you have a sweet tooth.  I’m not so sure I agree with her philosophy on food cravings (though, fun fact:  your body will crave dirt if it finds no other source of iron…).  None the less, just being able to see what other options are available may help you to make better decisions. 

I’m going to make a few of these while having a hp marathon every night next month….

My advice:

*Use Greek yogurt.  It has more health advantages.

*Find recipes for local fruits.  They always taste better :)

If you don’t like that fishy taste…

A few tricks I’ve learned:

Lemon.  A squirt of lemon on your fish not only makes it fresh tasting, it removes that fishy taste.

Dairy.  Fish can be cooked in milk, or cheese can be added after it is cooked.  Dairy works similarly to lemon in removing the fishy flavor.

Nutmeg.  Now, nutmeg doesn’t necessarily remove any flavors, but it adds a strong one.  Adding nutmeg to fish will create a distinctive flavor that will overpower the fish flavor.

Add them together.  My favorite is halibut, simply cooked in milk with a bit of lemon juice splashed on the top.  What’s even better is that this is a day-after fish.  Most fish tastes terrible the next day, but the day after you have your fancy halibut dinner, try adding the leftovers to a slice of flatbread with a splash of lemon juice and some cheese melted over the top.  It makes a delicious, healthy lunch.

And if you do like the taste of fish, but like extra [sweet] flavor, try adding brown sugar your salmon, or honey mustard to your tuna sandwiches.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime find!  For sugar fiends like me, it’s important to avoid high-fructose corn syrup.  When you bake for yourself, you actually know what is in the food you’re eating.

One downside:  I have heard that Oreos are vegan.  This recipe is not.  It is possible to find substitutions for eggs.  If looking online, search for those that use water or other liquids in them. 

My recommendations:  For the flour, use either cake flour (for the best taste), or wheat flour (which is healthier than bleached flour).  Wheat flour does have a slightly different taste, but if you often eat wheat then the taste shouldn’t bother you.
